SHOT LISTING
My trailer begins with a close up of a sign saying 'NO ENTRY TO VISITORS', this is to give a clue of where my trailer and film is going to be based. The dissolve into my establishing pan shot-similar to most trailers- identifies the setting of the events and the pathetic fallacy of darkness, thunder and grey skies makes all help to immediately grab my viewers attention and creating a narrative hook. This then cut to a low angle shot of boots running across glass at a very faced pace, the audience at this point can realise that a character is about to be introduced.
The long shot of my protagonist here is the first time the character is introduced to the audience, they witness a female running with passion across a prison yard, this creates tension and they ask 'where is she going?'. There first assumptions of her is that she is active and clearly has will power.
the viewers are presented with an extreme close up/ zoom of the map that the detective is also observing, this is done for them to understand what is on the page in detail and look at the road names and markings that he is observing, also for them to see everything in the detectives perspective and become informed at the lack of connections on the map in finding the prison escaper. However, at this point it has not yet been confirmed that the prisoner has escaped, but slight hints such as 'SUSPECT' written on the map with red, bold writing clarifies the characters in the trailer. This is the first step for the audience into understanding the story line.
I purposely chose to film without a tripod for this particular part of my trailer, this is filmed with a shaky camera and forms a dizziness and confusion for the viewers, similar to the detectives mental stability at that moment, i wanted to show this through my camera and portrayed it a zoom. Also, it is done for creative purposes, to help me go beyond the limits of camera use and break conventions of ensuring a still camera.
The low angle shot here shows his struggle to getting any closer to capturing the suspect. His position within the investigation is inferior and he has no connections or clues in helping him in the case, this is shown through this shot and the viewers understand his determination to get to the top and overcome the issues he is currently facing. I broke typical conventions of this shot as usually low angle shots show status, but here they do the opposite.

The high angle shot however, follows its conventions and highlights in inferior mind set and position. My audience wonder if he will make progress and want to watch on to see if this happens.
The overlap effect here clarifies his focal concern, this being the female. I have shown this through including a prison image of her here backed up with with his concerned facial expression. This makes it clear for viewers to know exactly what the story line is-detective capturing female- and who the main influences within my trailer and film. The opening introduces the character and now there roles and motives have been allocated.
I included a long shot followed straight away by a extreme close up, this gives detail into the prisoners facial expression and at this point she looks worried. The audience may sympathise with her and be indulged by her emotional eyes, seeming as if they are crying or deeply upset.
I needed to give detail and include cuts within my trailer as this is what trailers mostly do, i chose to show these constructive, repetitive shots through cuts of my protagonist, i zoomed into certain props she has on her, for example her black and white coat, a red torch she is holding and her black casual shoes.
All of those cuts lead up to this moment, my mid shot, where the protagonists transformation is shown in my trailer. The viewers want to watch the film and see how this transformation has undergone. Also, this is the point where you are able to see her hat and sunglasses, these are used and warn to cover her identity and help her not get caught. The viewers have already formed a biased opinion on her this being against her as she is evil and against the law, but at the same time admire her courage and bravery. Male audiences might find her attractive as she flips her hair from side in a seductive, attractive way.
The extreme close up of there hand shows the passion in there relationship. This is shown after the voice over 'my wife, my children, what more can she take?' is stated and therefore gets the viewers to sympathise with the loss he has suffered and understand how vital it is for him to find the prisoner.
Ive cut from one technology to another to yet again highlight the passion of my detective, this is illustrated through zooms help make it intense and clear. The readers are entertained at the measures the detective is taking just to reach his motive and gain justice.
The extreme zoom here of the protagonists lips, the audience are focusing on what they she is saying, 'so we meet again'. An link is made here of the dialogue and shot and all these factors help to make a interesting construction.
The extreme close up of the females eyes at the ending of the sequence builds suspense, forms a cliff hanger and is intimidating. The audience are still hooked and want to watch the full movie of DARK DAYS!

COSTUME
I showed my target audience this picture of my detective and they said that it looks very efficient and relevant, but yet still mysterious. The reason i chose a mid-long waist jacket was for my detective to have something unique about him, so that he is recognised by most. Detectives have a particular item or gesture that sparks viewers and in this case i have done this through my costume and clothing, Daniel's grey coat. My aim is to include this jacket within the film. His dark trousers are always the bottoms he wears within my trailer just so the attention of the jacket is emphasised, as it is the main feature. The shiny shoes show that he takes somewhat pride in his appearance and does not look scruffy. The tie makes him look smart and educated, also it represents that he is educated and comes across in a formal manner. His wealth is hinted here, but he does not purposely wear anything that makes him seem as if he is 'showing off'. Collective is the approach i was going for, i want him to be identified instantly, but the main attention and focus to be on my protagonist, Dawn Cope.

PROPS
My target audience are sixteen and over, to appeal to these audiences i had to make sense of what would attract them to watch my detective film. Within my trailer i used various tools given to the detective (as shown below) to help find the female that has escaped from prison.
I chose to use a graph and a handy book for detectives to help trace the prisoner. The inspiration for using these specific tools came from several classical detective series. Poirot has an interest in reading which helps his capability of solving the crimes that he always some how 'ends up in' (this meaning his is a opportunity type of detective that ends up in the scenario's). I wanted to portray that within my trailer, hinting to the audience that my detective also uses such strategies. These traditional methods of solving crime are still used within the twenty first century.
The sheet of paper with the map and markings target and clarify's for the detective all the possible routes that the female could have taken. The red marking at the centre of my map represents where she escaped from, the lines drawn from the outer centre shows the different routes that the prisoner could have taken. I chose to show this to viewers as it clearly demonstrates the difficulty of the investigation and educates the audience of the plan that they are actively going to take-this being following the blue lines. This method was spontaneous for me as i have not seen this in majority of detective stories, however, i recently watched a movie called 'Sinister' which was about a man who wrote books on unsolved crimes, his method of understanding what happened was to draw similar maps like mine and post them on his wall, to help him guide his literature.
My trailer included gadgets like a mobile phone, specifically a BlackBerry Torch, similar to the one in the image above. I also decided to hand the detective a laptop, to further help him with his investigation. The purpose of the phone is to call for backup when he has a lead, the audience are able to see the phone being used in this way when he breaches contact with his 'Chief'. The laptop provides him help that none of the technologies above do, for example its capacity helps him find information and research on other prison escapes, answering the question of 'how did she escape in the first place?' after all, it is a high security prison. My focal reason for using these two mediums is because it makes my trailer more contemporary/modern, this then interests a younger generation and specifically males to come watch my movie- young men usually take particular interest in gadgets and technology.

EDITING 2
From the last editing screen shot i showed you, this is an updated version of that. Since then i have built up my knowledge in terms of skill, within Pro and managed to complete my construction. This is the final shot of all my clips, including my self constructed sound. I have learned so much from this process, my skills of cutting unnecessary clips have become more coherent and picked up in pace. I am now able to manage my time better and have learnt not only from my deadline, but also my personal schedule's, the importance of time management and organisation.
Before this, i was not able to create titles. Now i can create titles and can make my own personal font to go with my background, my development was slow and steady but i believe it that i have really come through. Its true what they say, practise really does make perfect. More importantly, i have enjoyed every minute and would do it all again if i could!

AUDIENCE
My target audience is my focal concern, i want to attract them and capture there attention, as they are ultimately the people that buy a ticket to watch my film.
AGE:
My target audience are young individuals around the ages of sixteen to mid-twenties. I think this is rationale as sixteen is the earliest age that will understand the story line, but not be influenced to try any of the dangerous murderous tack ticks at home. This is all aimed primarily up to mid-twenties, as that is the finishing age of adolescence and the ultimate age that will find my movie interesting. I tried to attract this age group in a variety of ways. The actors involved in my construction are young and therefore represent my target audiences mind set, this not only makes them relate to the characters, but viewers also extract the information and take it more personally. Also, to attract my secondary audience, these being of all ages, i aimed to produce a trailer that advertised a film not already made in the market, my research informed me upon a crucial fact, there are not many detective films currently in the cinema or made within my lifetime that involve a young crew of actors trying to solve a complicated and explicit criminal investigation. I took this on board and tried to produce something unique and fill the gap in the market.
Another way i appealed to my viewers was through the use of props, i ensured to used classical techniques which impresses my secondary audience, but hook my primary appeal through contemporary technology such as BlackBerrys and laptops. All of these satisfying both types of viewers within one film, creating a mass market and further producing more profit for my film company.
GENDER:
Initially my targeted gender were females, but i soon came to realise that this is not efficient as most males are interested in my genre type of crime fiction, so excluding them would loose me customers. With this information on board i tried to hook both genders in and make my film interesting but still personally interactive for them. for the females, the main character is a women so they repeatedly see her in action and embrace her femininity. For males, simply, the antagonist is a man.
In terms of sound, i made it appeal to both as it is intense but still relaxing for the females and later progresses into a more active, up beat sound that hooks males in and bursts out a sense of energy and excitement. This all builds tension and internally includes both genders in my trailer.
The contrast of him finding her- my detective and prisoner- makes it all more overwhelming and exciting, yet again including gender integration.
ETHNICITY: My trailer includes a range of ethnicities such as, Asian and British as well as a Spanish actress, targeting all ethnicity types. The country of release is within the United Kingdom, a multi-cultural establishment, this inits-self is likely to be the main reason why difference races and ethnicities as well as diverse cutlers are likely to come across my trailer and watch my film. Also the youth within the Twenty-First century are all multi cultural, especially in London.
CLASS: Its aimed at all different classes, working class people are likely to watch it as the language and communication within my film is standard and coherent. Middle class people will watch it as they are more likely to spend leisure time and money within a cinema. My antagonist represents a middle classed person as his hobby's include horse riding, playing golf and taking part in diner parties.
SOCIAL GROUPS: All social groups are welcome to watch my trailer, it does not include segregation within any of the 'friendship groups' that are within our society today. My trailer includes more personal and individuality, through a single prisoner and re enforces self expression as a pose to 'gang culture'. I would like all social groups and social classes within society to watch my trailer and film as it is targeted at everyone because of my interesting, dramatic factors such as my cliff hanger at the end.

STORY LINE FOR SECOND HALF OF TRAILER
Trailers generally start of with a story line witch introduces the characters. So far i have managed to produce this to the best of my ability. I have used an establishing pan shot of my prison to set the scene. The pathetic fallacy works well as you can see the court yard surrounded by big trees and a gloomy grey sky. This creates entrapment and a sense of fear, however its ironic as you can clearly tell its mid-afternoon and not night time or late-evening-those being the most dangerous times of a day. I learnt from AS that filming at night does not allow for clear shots and visual screen viewing, the lighting is low and therefore viewers are not able to see much on the screen, this is off putting, meaning they are hardly going to watch a film that is unclear and far from coherent. On the other hand, footage in mid-day, followed by effects of Premier Pro works much more effectively, and ultimately saves time because i don't then have to re-film elements of my construction.
The second half of my trailer needs to be more active and include various actions, this should be backed up with fast paced non diagetic sound . I started of by understanding that the two characters need a connection towards each other, so i am able to successfully create a narrative hook and capture the viewers attention, through the interest of this connection- but more importantly, so they understand the story line.
From here, i created drafts of ideas and planned out the types of connections that could be possible:
My first is to have close up's of my detectives facial expression and body language as him and his forensic team investigate the escape in more detail, from here i imaged a good connection is to display various long shots like pans and tracks to establish the prisoners change of identity and escape. I thought it would be interesting to maybe change her look once she is out of prison and maybe even form a new personality, one that is much more violent then we initially see, this physical transformation intrigues the audience, leaving them wanting to know what else this individual is capable of . In terns of prop,s i was effectively aiming to buy a wig of full black hair so that it is the complete opposite from her blonde her (making it a strong element in her transformation) different but yet still clear for the viewers to know its the prisoner and are able to identify her (my last intentions are to confuse my audience). In addition to that, a hat or sunglasses to protect her when she is in public so she doesn't get recognised-as she is a most wanted suspect- and is protects her self, enabling her to stay on the run and away from getting caught.
This becomes a 'goose chase', the detective trying to find her and getting dangerously close each time, to the prisoner running away and escaping as soon as she can after each criminal activity, purposely leaving clues behind just for the thrill of it, this shows her bravery and although the audience can tell the protagonist is evil, they side with her because of her ability to 'be on top of the law'. For my detectives search team i was thinking it would be good to use typical objects that real scientists or detectives use to spot clues and look for evidence, for example a microscopes or a computer systems with criminal database and information on it, so he can track down her motives and past convictions, helping him to further find her. The mis-en-scene and attention to detail in the second half of my trailer is crucial and needs to be carefully planned out. This will be clear for the viewers to see there motive, and how they are going about capturing her. Also it builds suspense because of the enigma.
My second idea that could occur in terms of there connection is, once the 'goose chase' is over, they could meet face to face, eye to eye, here i can use interesting shots and purposely break the 180 degree rule to circle the two characters together, creating tension and thrill. The audience would want to watch this as the climax of my trailer not only creates a cliff hanger of what will happen next, but is also filmed in an interesting way so my audience are able to see the technique portrayed through the screen and the quality that goes with it.
Other minor connection's can be that the prisoner has hurt or killed a member of the detectives family, this being the reason for his passion and obsession to capture her and bring justice upon her again. I could show this through a burial scene using high angle shots, this indicates that they are inferior and at a loss on a literal basis-because of there dead family member- and because the person that committed this brutal act is on the loose.I could then cut to the prisoner and show low angle shots to contrast with the previous shot, indicating that she holds the power at this point and through the majority of the film. Further then that, maybe i could just state the loss of his family through a narrative voice over, explaining there tragic death and why it is compulsory to find her again- this being that she is a threat to society and personally to the detective.
My last connection could be through a phone call. i could zoom in only on the protagonists lips so we know who she is but she is quiet and deceiving and we could reveal all the detectives face indicating that he is honest and not secretive. This is creative and simply impresses viewers to watch on and not loose interest.
Nothing is for certain yet, but let me know your opinions so i can count up the majority of interests. Thank you :)
